CALL FOR ENTRIES: 28th ANNUAL NATIONAL JURIED FINE ART COMPETITION
The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is currently accepting entries for its 28th annual juried fine art competition, A Sense of Place 2008. Open to all U.S. artists ages 18 and older working in the following media: drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. $25 entry fee covers submission of slides or CD of up to three works; additional works $5 each. 5th Annual Fine Art & Wine Festival

THE CENTER FOR DOCUMENTARY STUDIES/HONICKMAN FIRST BOOK PRIZE IN PHOTOGRAPHY is a biennial prize offering $3,000 in grant money, inclusion in an exhibition, and most importantly, the publication of a book of photography, published by Duke University Press in association with CDS Books of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. Faux Fiber

Project Creo: The root of fiber art is based on artists using traditional materials and techniques in unconventional ways. The Arts Center is looking for artists who create work that reverses this dialogue. Artist are encouraged to use materials such as steel, wood and glass to simulate fiber or fiber to simulate other media resulting in a trompe l'oeil that is engaging and refreshing.
